I wish I taught Kindergarten

I think Kindergarten teachers are some of the luckiest professionals in the world. They get to spend the day with fun, happy little kids. Then right when things are starting to fall apart, when the kids are losing interest for the day and they are getting tired, they send them home. Home, where it is supposed to be a peaceful place for our families. I will be the first to admit that when my wonderful, funny little man gets home from Kindergarten he is no longer a wonderful or funny little man. He is an over-tired, temper-tantrum throwing force to be reckoned with. By Thursday and Friday he is over the top tired and I seriously lack the words to explain him to you. Yes, he is still my wonderful, funny little man on the inside but that is buried under days of fatigue and it is hard to reach down in there to pull him out.
I'm not sure where I was going with this, but I think I was just trying to (nicely) tell you J is being bratty. He wont nap, wont fall asleep early and wont sleep any later than 7am. At this point the best I can hope for is for him to pass out from exhaustion, right?

Hey....guess what?! I won a Tupperware giveaway over at Marine Corp Nomads. Thanks DevilDogWife. Head over to her blog and show her some comment love <3

There is not enough money in print to get me to teach K. I do character ed classes with them for an hour a week and that is enough! God bless the k teachers!

I was going to say the same thing as Missy. It's a good thing there are people who love teaching kindergarten, because I'm not one of them!

I would not be a very good kindergarten teacher. But I totally understand the tired child.

Maybe you need to become a substitute teacher and find out what they do to the little girls and boys to make them come home from school that way.

What are you going to do next year when you have one in Kindergarten and one in 1st grade? Enjoy your day till they get home and go wild on you? LOL

I remember my kindergarten teacher as being WONDERFUL. To handle five year olds in bunches takes a special kind of kid wrangler, but I bet you would like it.

I thought about teaching K. I love little kids and you only have each group for half a day!!

I did voluntary work with kids aged 5 and 6, and I loved every minute of it! I have a friend who lives in Arizona and is training to become a teacher. She is one one of the hardest working people that I know.
Being only a "Student" at the moment, she also has papers and exams to study for before she qualifies next year. She works everyday, gets to look after the sick children and clean up after them, makes sure all the toys are steamed cleaned every week, and arranges activities for them. Then she goes home and takes care of her own two little girls and home.
On top of that, she still has time to go running in the desert too!
Whoever said that it was an easy job! This girl deserves a medal!!!

it's true... the little ones use up all their good behavior on the teachers. it's been a while since my kids were of the age where they wanted to please their teachers. but you're right, the down side is they definitely have a limited supply. and it does run out right around dismissal.

I remember the tired 5 year old.

Let me tell you, it's easier than a tired 17 year old. For reals.
