Frumpy

I am a Stay at home Mom. I rarely wear makeup and usually wear sweats. I am frumpy and comfortable. I have 3 sons, so I never get to have "girly" stuff to do with the kids. I dont paint my nails or do my hair. There have been some days when I actually forgot to brush my hair.

Most of the time I am completely happy with all of this. I love my life and wouldnt change it for anything. But once in awhile something comes along that makes me miss a life on the outside. You know, a job.....going out.....dressing up. All those things. Last night was one of those occasions. My neighbor had a jewelry party. Wow. I was completely out of my element. I did wear my best, non-stained up shirt and jeans and even did my best to make my hair presentable. As I sat and watched people try on all those pieces of jewelry I had a slight twinge of jealousy. Thoughts like "if I worked, I would have an outfit that would look great with that necklace" or "that ring is gorgeous...but would gouge out my kids eyeballs".....I dont dress up. I have no need for fancy pretty jewelry. Yes I do have a few pieces of jewelry that I save for special occasions. Weddings, etc. It was fun to watch them, oooh and aaaah over the jewelry too. And spend! Wow....they were spending big bucks on this stuff.

Maybe someday when the kids are grown I will go back to work and will have a reason for stuff like that. But for now I will trade all the jewelry in the word for hugs and kisses. Dont tell the other women, but I do believe Im getting the better end of the deal.

I like having nice things. But I'm OK with not!

I am a lot like you...sweats, no makeup at home...but I have to dry my hair after every shower, so it does get combed. I wear my wedding rings...and that is about it for jewlery, though sometimes I wear a necklace to church. I like things simple.

Don't worry babe, there are a lot of women out there just like you and I would bet money at least one or 2 of them didn't go to that jewlery party for that same reason. You and hubby do go out once in awhile and when you do you dress up and put on some of your nice necklase, bracelet, and rings. So sit back and enjoy your comphy life with your boys. There is nothing wrong with it.

what a great attitude you have! I do work outside the home in an office and I acually enjo wearing skirts, etc. But I was always like that. Even growing up in school and stuff I wore a lot of skirts and dresses. But my mom was like you. I remember looking through her jewelry box and once asked her why she never wore her rings, etc. She said because she didn't have a reason to dress up. Anyway, once most of us were grown she did work outside he home -- but as a nurse. not quite the job whereing you can wear tons of fancy schmancy stuff. Even now, you know it's a special occassion when she dresses up. But she wouldn't ever trade it either.

I do work outside the home and I don't dress up with jewlery everyday. I just wear my favorite pieces. Hugs and kisses from our loved ones are the best!

I work every day but I'm not a big jewelry person anyways... love to look at it, & I'll buy some - but I usually stick with my basic pieces- stud earrings, my cross necklace & my wedding band & anniversary ring... doesnt change 99% of the time! :) So dont feel bad!

I work but our uniform is t-shirts and khakis. No need for fancy jewelry. Sometimes I see people who get to look nice and wish I could too. Most of the time I'm happy being me.
