MOPS and Operation Christmas Child

My MOPS group is donating boxes to Operation Christmas Child. It is a program run by Samaritans Purse that sends Shoebox filled with goodies to kids around the world. We get to choose a boy or girl and a specific age range. That way you know what would be the best things to put in the box. I am taking my boys shopping on day this week to fill our box with toys, socks, toiletries, etc. I am hoping that it passes a message on to them that even when things are tight you still need to give to others.

Please visit the Operation Christmas Child site and consider donating to this great cause. There are many drop off locations or you can donate online.

Thanks!!

What a great idea! We contribute to Toys for Tots every year. It breaks my heart that some children don't get anything for the holidays!!!

That's a great way to teach them about giving back. And they get the fun of picking out things for the box!

We have been doing that for a number of years now. We choose either female or male, and an age range. We aren't allowed to put sweets in or anything religious, but it is surprising at how much you can fit into a shoe-box! I would just love to see their faces on Christmas Day!
Ours started with a friend of ours who was working in Romania about 10 years ago now, and these kids are happy with some crayons and a colouring book! Little things certainly mean a lot...So spread the Christmas Cheer, it only costs pennies to fill a box with bits and pieces to give a child a Happy Christmas!

We've been doing this for a few years, too. I love to take the boys and let them pick out the things we send.

We do something like this with our church every year.

My church does this every year. :) We are having a "Fill the Shoe Boxes" and Pizza Party on Sunday to finish filling them and getting them ready to send.
